I was born in 1977 in Plymouth, NH. I grew up in Nassau Bahamas because my parents were missionaries there. I came to Greenville SC in 1995 after I graduated from Nassau Christian Academy to attend Bob Jones University. I met Rebecca there my freshman year and we got married in July after we graduated in 1999. We have two boys, Matthew (6) and Timothy (3), and one girl, Arabella (3 mo).
I currently work for Engineered Systems Inc. in Duncan SC as a co-manager of the GE Gas Turbines site.
I was diagnosed with PKD (Polycystic kidney disease) when I was seven years old. During a regular check-up the doctor found a fist-sized cyst on my kidney. It was immediately removed, but I had many smaller cysts that could not be removed without damage to my kidneys. The doctor said I might not make it to age 30. Around age 30 my kidneys started only functioning at around 10% and I needed a transplant. On November 19, 2007, I had the fistula procedure done in preparation for dialysis should I go into kidney failure. I was put on the kidney transplant list on January 3, 2008. My dad, oldest sister, and cousin were tested as possible donors. My dad didn't have the right blood type. (I am 0 positive.) My oldest sister was a match but one of her kidneys was too small. My cousin's kidneys were also too small. My wife (Rebecca) and other 2 sisters have the wrong blood type. After waiting on the transplant list for 2 1/2 years I received a cadaver donor kidney on May 22, 2010 - Praise the Lord!
